5 Things That Nobody Told You About Starting An Internet Business

Although many entrepreneurs enjoy success with their online business there are also a number who fail. One of the main reasons why people fail online is that they jump in head first thinking that it is an quick way to get rich. Here are 5 factors about setting up an internet business that you may not know.

1. You Need To Work Hard.

Starting an online business and turning it into a success does require time, effort and resources. It is a real business and if you treat it like a hobby, it will become a very costly and frustrating one. Be prepared to work hard to achieve your goals. It involves a lot more than pushing a couple of buttons on your laptop or computer for a few minutes each day.

2. It Takes Time To Get Results.

People who want to make loads of money as quickly as possible are normally the ones who get discouraged and give up when things don’t go their way. Developing a solid online reputation, getting your website noticed by the search engine and building a customer base generally takes a lot longer than people expect.

3. Some Folks Will Tell You You’re Wasting Your Time.

You will come across people who are cynical about setting up an internet business. They choose to ignore the fact that the internet is a flourishing business environment and that it is possible to generate a legitimate income online. Don’t let less people undermine your efforts. Become a member of an online community of similar entrepreneurs for your business advice and support.

4. You’ll Most Likely Have Information Overload At Some Point.

When starting an online business there can seem to be a never ending set of tasks to do. Once your website is set up, you have to find the right products and the right customers to buy them. There is a whole range of free and paid marketing strategies that you can use and sometimes it can become mind-boggling and you can have a total information overload. Take one step at a time, become proficient at one thing then move onto the next. You do not have to do everything at once.

5. Everything Will Not always Go To Plan.

You must never expect everything to be easy and recognize that sometimes things don’t go according to plan on the first try. But don’t look at these problems as failure. Look at them as a learning process. You now realize what went wrong so that you can avoid it happening again in the future. Every entrepreneur faces set backs at one stage or another with their online business and you have to be willing to accept these unexpected challenges as part of your ongoing business venture.

Google Tools That Every Website Owner Can Benefit From

Google is a word synonymous with the internet. It is almost as if you cannot start your internet journey without Google. Being out of sync with the trends from Google will prevent you in being successful online. This article discusses a few free tools which you can use to help Google better understand your business and website.

Google Webmaster Tools

This tool is a must for every webmaster, as it tells you Google’s perspective of your website and website visitors. Webmaster Tools is like a communication portal where you can customize and tweak certain aspects of your site, so that Google can understand it better. The Search Engine’s aim is to serve up relevant results to its viewers and searchers. This means that it must understand what every site has to offer and try and link it up to what the users need. GWT allows you to set certain important information for your website, so that the relevant aspects of it are highlighted in Google Searches. One of the options that you can set in GWT is what is the target country for your website. Selecting a specific country will prioritize your website in searches from that country, also taking into account the preferences of the person searching. You can also indicate old and broken links and direct Google to new pages which have replaced them. This tool also allows you to update your
sitemap on Google, allowing you to know when it was updated and how many links Google has indexed from it.

Local Business Listing

Google offers a Local business listing for your website which will allow you to put in all the important details of your business, so that when someone searches for your business or a place in your locality, Google will also show them your business. When someone searches for your locality in Google Maps, all the local businesses in that area, including yours will show up. Additionally, when someone searches your exact business name or address in Google, on the side a map and details of your business will appear, if you have set them in the local business listing. Google allows you to put in information like your shop or office timings, what payment methods you accept and also the facilities that you offer.

Google Ads

Whether you want to host ads on your website or you want to place ads on other people’s websites, Google’s Ad products will help your business. The Google Adsense product will allow you to earn revenue from your website, by allowing Google to place ads on your blog or website. These third party ads will allow you to earn money per click or everytime the ad is displayed to your visitors. You can do the same by subscribing to Google’s Adwords service, which allows you to place your ads on several related or relevant websites, without involving yourself in the intricacies of negotiating a deal or handling payments.

Google Analytics

Another highly recommended tool for every professional website is Google Analytics. Like the name suggests, it provides in depth website metrics which will allow you to determine how traffic is being channelized to your website, what is the feedback of your visitors, what are the popular sections of your website and how visitors are browsing your website pages. For a small or medium website it may not be very critical to track these features, but an ecommerce website has to have an in depth view of how and where the visitors are being drawn to their content. Analytics can provide a direct revenue increase in the amount of sales that a website is successfully able to churn from its shopping flow.

Google Alerts

Another useful tool provided by Google is the Alerts feature. Google Alerts will allow you to setup an alert for specific trigger keywords or key phrases which will allow you to monitor websites which are indexed by Google. Upon coming across those words or phrases, Google will send you an email and notify you of those search results. This tool can be especially useful for online reputation or brand management.

How Do You Make Money Online Without A Product

If you have an entrepreneurial spirit and a determination to succeed it is possible to make money online. When conducting business on the internet, one of the unique advantages is that you don’t actually need to have your own product to start making money. By using affiliate marketing program, you can choose from a wide variety of ready made products to sell online.

Making Money Online With Affiliate Marketing.

Let’s look at an example of how to make money online with affiliate marketing. Let’s say that you are interested in the health and fitness market and you decide that you want to start making money online by selling a weight loss program. This could be at the start of the new year when a lot of people are looking to shed a few pounds after Christmas.

Your first step is to go to an affiliate marketplace (like ClickBank or JVZoo) and search for possible weight loss products that you can sell. These marketplaces sell digital products, which means that as soon as a customer buys them, they can download them directly to their computer to read, watch or listen to.

Making Money Online The Easy Way.

You need to carefully choose a suitable weight loss product with an eye catching sales page and statistics that prove it converts well. Check also if the product has good customer and affiliate testimonials. Once you have made your choice, you get your unique affiliate link from the product owner (sometimes called a hop-link’). This is the website URL to the product sales page that tracks all your sales back to you.

Your job is now to get potential customers to click on your unique affiliate link where they will be taken to the product sales page. This could be done by inserting the link into a blog post you have written about weight loss, placing a banner ad or pay per click ad on relevant weight loss websites or sending an email containing the link to your customer database (if you don’t have one, you need to start building one!).

When someone clicks on your link to the sales page and goes on to buy the product, you will get paid an affiliate commission. This is usually anything between 50 to 80% of the price of the product.

Affiliate sales offer an amazing opportunity for making money online for both new and experienced marketers. Just about anything you can think of is available to sell through an affiliate programs. There are thousands of ebooks and courses on hundreds of different subjects, there’s internet services like autoresponders, keyword tools and hosting companies, software and membership websites.

3 Types Of Affiliate Marketing Websites That Generate Income

Affiliate internet marketing is a genuine business model that involves work and effort just as any other business does. It is not a ‘get rich quick’ scheme. The content material of your affiliate marketing website is used to convert visitors into customers by providing valuable information. There are 3 main types of affiliate marketing websites, each of which have their own value and level of work and skill required.

1. Niche Websites.

One of the most popular affiliate marketing websites is a niche-based website. This is where you select a number of products, normally between 10-20, all based around a specific niche industry or market. You then write and upload content to your affiliate site and at the bottom of every article, you feature a direct link to a related product or service. Niche based websites are very easy to set up, but it is important to stay within your chosen industry. If your affiliate internet marketing business is based around golf your website could feature different clubs, accessories, clothing, tuition or even golf holidays. But if you start to stray into other sports or pastimes, your website will lose visitors and sales because people would not consider it an authority website on golf.

2. Specific Product Blogs.

You can download a free copy of the WordPress blogging software, set it up onto your own hosting account and have a fully functional, dynamic website created very quickly. Then, you can easily optimize your blog for the search engines using WordPress’s built in optimization tools, or download interactive plugins that will help to thoroughly optimize (and monetize) your blog for top search engine ranking.

3. Review Websites.

Review based affiliate websites work well as people who are searching for information or reassurance regarding a product look for feedback and testimonials from customers who have purchased and used the product. People will only be motivated to purchase a product after reading your review, if they believe it is sincere and comprehensive. This means you need to include the advantages and disadvantages about each product. Ensure that you optimize your review pages to include the product title and other relevant keywords that will help visitors find your page within the search engines.

And the Answer Lies With? 4 Key Elements of a Home Based Business

I just received an email from a perspective customer or downline memberop in my personal email account. He had opted in to an online marketing opportunity that I promote . He was curious about making money online, as we all are. His email went something like this: “Do you think your opportunity is really the answer? Just Curious.”

First of all, before I comment or respond to this email, let me put myself in the position of the perspective downline member. The thoughts I consider include the following: I wonder what is going through his mind? What is he looking for? Is he trying to find a way to make a full-time or part-time income from home? Has he been unsuccessful thus far in his attempts? What service can I offer him to change his outlook? Can I change his outlook or even his financial future? Does he have any experience online or is he new to online marketing?

These are all questions I ask when someone approaches or inquires about me becoming their sponsor. You see, a sponsor is much more than a recruiter. I am not involved in recruiting per se. I am involved in sponsoring. What’s the difference you ask?

Sponsor vs Recruiter

In my opinion, a recruiter is someone that attracts inquiries into online marketing opportunities via various online methods such as enticing ads offering to make so much money, offering pie in the sky get rich quick programs or schemes, offering retire in 30 day programs, etc. You get the picture. Now don’t get me wrong here. These advertisments may allow you to achieve exactly what they entail. However, in my experience, the odds of that happening are slim and none.

A sponsor on the other hand, has a responsibility. A responsibility for the success of the newcomer. A responsibility to provide all he or she can in order for that person to achieve whatever it is they seek. When you as a sponsor, accept this responsibility, you separate yourself from those seeking to recruit.

In my opinion, there are 4 key elements to success in your home based business. The 4 elements are discussed below.

1. Is your business simple to understand?

There is nothing more frustrating than trying to figure out how a particular online business operates? What’s more frustrating is trying to figure out how you are going to make money with a business you don’t even understand. My advice is to take the advice of billionaire investor Warren Buffet. He says, and I paraphrase, “If I can’t understand it, I’m not investing in it.” Make sure you understand the business before getting involved.

2. Is your business easy to duplicate?

What’s the point of internet or network marketing if newcomers can’t duplicate the business? Exactly. None. Follow the McDonald’s motto of “One on every corner that anyone can run” and your business will prosper.

3. Does your business have a simple marketing system?

The rule of thumb in any online business is the same as any offline or brick-n-mortar business. KISS. Keep it simple stupid. A simple marketing system should include one with easy to use lead capture pages, autoresponders, sales pages, and products.

4. Does you business have a simple product?

By now, you should be starting to see a pattern here for a successful online marketing business. That’s right. The simpler the better. Make sure your product is simple, cost effective, easy to use, duplicatable, and helps others.

To answer the email above to the question, “Is your business opportunity the answer?”, I would respond by saying this: “Any online marketing opportunity can provide you the vehicle to get you where you want to go. It’s up to you to take it for a drive”.

If your business contains the four elements above, then get behind the wheel and take action. The answer lies with “YOU”.

5 Email Marketing Strategies For Social Media

Email marketing is still regarded as the best online marketing method by marketers around the world. If you combine that with the increasing impact of social media, you can take advantage of both of these resources for even more traffic and audience engagement. Here are 5 email list building tips to use with social media.

Take Advantage Of Your Social Networks.

Social media provides a great place to introduce potential customers to you and your business. All social networking websites have applications that let users share information that they like. Facebook has ‘likes’, Twitter has ‘re-tweets’, and Pinterest has ‘repins’. Using these tools, people who like your information and content can distribute your messages to their followers.

Use The Facebook Sign-up Tab.

To increase your email list building on Facebook, you can place a custom tab below your cover photo that links to your email sign up form. The email marketing software provided by AWeber has an app that can be very easily installed onto your Facebook page and it links directly to your opt in form. Another option is to install the ‘Static Iframe Tab’ where you can customise an opt in page with Facebook. You can download it for free by searching for it on Facebook.

Using Your Blog.

Bear in mind that your blog is also part of your social profile and can be used as part of your email list building strategy. Place an opt in form on your blog’s sidebar so that it is visible on each post and page to give it as much visibility as possible. You can also place opt in forms at the bottom of each post, or even in your header.

Getting Subscribers To Social Media.

To integrate your email list building strategies with social media, encourage your list members to connect with you on social media. Insert buttons that allow your readers to comment or share your content with their followers as it helps to spread your messages virally and access a wider audience.  Check out the ‘Like This’ Facebook button and the ‘Tweet This’ Twitter buttons to add to your emails.

Don’t Forget Mobile.

More people read their emails and socialize online using mobile products, so make sure that everything is mobile-friendly. Typing on mobiles is more challenging than using a standard keyboard, so ensure that your email marketing software allows you to create opt in forms that are easy to fill out and that your landing pages are optimized for mobile.

How To Use Twitter To Boost Your Online Home Business

Twitter might be short on content but it can make a big impact on your online home business. Twitter is one of the top 10 most visited internet sites, with over 284 million monthly active users sending more than 500 million Tweets per day.

Why Use Twitter For Your Online Home Business?

Twitter is an online social networking website and microblogging service that allows users to post and read text-based messages of up to 140 characters, known as ‘Tweets’. A Tweet is an expression of a moment or idea. It can contain text, photos, and videos.

Although Twitter only gives you 140 characters to work with, that’s plenty of room to post a concise sentence and include a link to your online home business. You can build you list by Tweeting a link to your squeeze page with a note about the free report that you are giving away or to your latest blog post that also includes your opt-in form.

To get started building a subscriber base on Twitter, set up an account with an image, ideally your photo. Don’t stick with the default egg graphic. You can also create a layout for your background design that includes your online home business website address and insert a direct hyperlink in your bio section.

Getting Started On Twitter.

You can start following people in your niche when you’re all set up. Follow a mixture of potential customers for your online home business and your competition as you want to interact with both. Generally, when you follow someone, they will follow you back.

When you start sending Tweets, look for hashtags that you can use in your niche. People use the hashtag symbol at the front of a relevant keyword or phrase in their Tweet so that they can show up in a Twitter search. When you click on a hashtagged word it shows you all other Tweets marked with that keyword. Don’t over use hashtag. Nobody likes to see a Tweet filled with a few words and loads of hashtags.

Build Relationships.

Don’t use Twitter for your online home business as a medium just to send out product offers. Engage in conversations with your audience by offering advice, motivation and your experiences. If people like your Tweets, they’ll click on your name to learn more about you. When they see what your online home based business is all about, that’s when they’ll sign up for your list to get your free report.

Twitter is a great viral hot spot for your online home business. Your followers can easily send out your Tweets to their followers by Retweeting what you’ve posted. You can also give people rewards for sharing your info on Twitter. You can use a system like paywithatweet.com to enable people to download a report of yours in exchange for Tweeting it!

How To Eliminate Your Competition Without Bloodshed

So how do you eliminate your competition without bloodshed? You must
create a niche for your business. A niche is something that makes your
business different from your competitors. To compete with other
businesses nowadays (especially online) you need something that nobody
else can copy. One of a kind!

First you must know who your competitors are. Is your business the only
one of its type? I doubt it. If so, it won’t be for long. Do you know your
exact target audience? If not, you will have to find out this information
before creating any kind of niche. Below are two ways to come up with a
competition eliminating niche.

1. Just Ask! The first way to come up with a niche is to think like your
target audience or customers. Know their exact needs, wants, goals,
problems and interests. There’re two ways to do this: The first way is to
put yourself in their shoes, think like them. The second way is to give them
polls and surveys to find out what they’re thinking. Pick a niche that none
of your competitors are using. If you can’t find one that your competitors
aren’t using pick one to improve.

2. Just Think! The second way to come up with a niche is to use
your brain power. Ask yourself questions like: How can I set myself
apart from my competition? What could I offer that they can’t? Imagine
or daydream that your business is on top of all your competitors. What
niche put your business at the top in your head? Now, if you keep asking
these questions your mind will eventually start shooting out more ideas
than you can handle. One of those ideas may be the niche you’re
searching for.

Now that you have your niche that’s just half the battle. You must test
it. Does your niche appeal to your target audience? Will it attract
people away from your competition? If it does, you’re done, until your
competition comes up with a better niche. If your niche doesn’t, than
repeat the process above and test a new niche until it works. If you
want to eliminate your competition and be successful you will use this
process several times in your business life.

5 Steps to Setting Up a Website in 15 Minutes Starting From Scratch

Do you have a traditional brick and mortar business and looking for an online presence? But you have no idea how to setup a website? Or, would you like to make extra money online but don’t have a clue how? Relax. It’s not that difficult. Just 5 quick, easy steps and wahla, your business is online.

Step 1 – You have to purchase a domain name. Now this step is probably the most important. Your domain name is your website address. For example, www.myname.com, or www.mybusinessname.com, or www.teachmetosetupawebsite.com. You get the picture. In addition to the .com website addressess, their are also the .net, .info, .guru, etc. names available. However, the most recognized are the .com address names. The most notable domain name website currently is GoDaddy.com. You can Google website names and find plenty places to buy your domain name. You can purchase a domain name for 1 year anywhere from $5 to $15. Just avoid the upsells and get your domain name.

Step 2 – Setup Your CPanel or Hosting Account For your Domain Name. This step is probably the most intimidating for newbies. Don’t let it frighten you. Once again it is relatively easy. Its just the name CPANEL that sounds complex. I personally use GVO for all my domain names and hosting because CPanel is included for each domain name purchased. With CPanel you will simply create an account that includes your domain name within. When you provide your current email address, your username and password for logging into CPanel will be emailed to you for future reference.

Step 3 – Changing Your NameServers. When you purchase your domain name, the nameservers simply point to your website server. Its kinda like telling the phone company where your home address is. The email you received in step 2 above will contain your domain name and current nameservers. If your hosting account is separate from where you purchased your domain name, (I use GVO because its all in one place), you simply change the nameserver address.

Step 4 – Install WordPress Using Softaculous or Manually. Inside your CPanel account, in order to get your website online, you must install wordpress. Softaculous is an automatic WordPress installer for your domain name. You simply find the Softaculous icon within CPanel and click install wordpress. Make sure you leave the in directory block blank so wordpress will be installed on your root directory, or your actual domain name. Most of the time, that in directory block in CPanel will contain letters such as wp in that block. You must clear those because if you don’t then wordpress will be installed on www.yourdomainname.com/wp. You don’t want that. For the more advanced you can also install wordpress manually. A manual install is a little more involved but not that difficult as well.

Step 5 – Preliminary WordPress settings. When you install wordpress in step 4 above, you will also be given a username and password to login into your website. Your login url to control your website will look something like this, www.mydomainname.com/wp-admin. To control your website settings you login into your admin and get started.

If you complete these 5 steps you will have your website up and running. If this is your first time doing this it may take a little longer. Once you have done it a few times, you can actually complete these steps in 3-5 minutes.

8 Must Have Ingredients of a Fully Automated Online Business

What is a fully automated online business?  In my opinion, its a marketing system that will not only sell your products, but also advertise, promote, appoint your downlines, train your downlines, and motivate them all at once.  Does your online business do that?  If not, take a closer look at all the wonderful technology available today.

Here are 8 must have ingredients of a fully automated online business:

1 – Collect your opt-in lists.  Most sites I have studied do this fairly well.  With FREE giveaways such as training courses, pdf’s, free marketing tips & tricks, etc., obtaining the initial opt-in is the first step in fully automating your online business.

2 – Promote your offer by giving your opt-ins a well-guided tour.  Making your potential customers feel welcomed is vital.  Its the same as if you visited a traditional brick and mortar business.  In the virtual world, this concept is the same.  Make your customer feel welcome, give valuable information and facts, show how your product will benefit them, all in a well developed tour.  Some marketers use video tour to fully explain your offer and others use sales copy.  Most highly functioning sites use both video and sales copy.

3 – Give your opt-ins an opportunity to buy.  This concept once again rings true in the offline world as well as online.  You want to provide an ultimate buying opportunity for your customers as opposed to stuffing a selling proposition down their throat.  If your customer sees a benefit from a great product that is fairly priced, they will buy.  Let them buy.  Don’t try to sell.

4 – Have your autoresponder setup to follow up if they don’t buy initially.  Have you ever been shopping, saw something that was really interesting, didn’t buy it initially, and returned later for your purchase?  We all have, right?  Same philosophy holds true online.  Follow-up with your interested opt-ins regularly and your sales will increase 20-30%.

5 – Have your autoresponder setup to train your customers when they buy.  Constant, consistent training for your customers is vital.  After all, if you offer a product they aren’t trained to use will cause chargebacks.  Your autoresponder should be setup will complete virtual, video training.

6 – Use conference software for group discussions.  A complete autoresponder should offer conferencing software in order to hold webinars or group discussions.  Regular webinars to answer questions and concerns and to educate your customer will keep them coming back.

7 – Have a well developed duplication system.  The goal here is to help your customers grow their business.  If your site promotes your customer duplicating and growing their business, while educating and training them, you will have a customer for life.

8 – Set up an automated traffic generating system.  If you have an automated traffic delivery system, then you will cycle back to step 1 above of creating an opt-in.  It all starts at step 1 obtaining the opt-in.  Step 8 keeps the cycle intact.

One of the  most fullfilling aspects of an online business is you can adapt, tweak and make necessary changes in order to most effective.  For most marketers, fully automating your online business is a journey.  Enjoy the ride.
